Chimneys & Masonry
Chimneys usually extend from the basement and penetrate the roof system of most houses, providing a way for water to infiltrate every level of your home. Most chimneys are masonry (brick, stone or stucco). Later model houses may have metal flues that may or may not be enclosed with siding. Water can penetrate masonry chimneys when the mortar joints are deteriorated, the brick, stone or stucco is cracked, the crown is loose and cracked or the flashings have deteriorated. A properly constructed and properly flashed chimney is essential to keeping your home watertight. Fick Bros. can inspect and evaluate your chimney and if it needs maintenance or repair, we have the experienced craftsmen to patch or rebuild your chimney. We also have the capability of designing a custom-fitted metal (copper or stainless steel) cover and flue caps to protect your chimney for many years.
